I didn't think much of the talk about TWD because the premise sounded silly. I mean, ZOMBIES?! C'mon! Then, one Friday, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. Before I knew it, it was Monday. I binge watched 5 seasons and was anxious for more! Now, I had to wait to continue the story when the seasons aired, like everyone else. The characters sucked me right in. The show is about survival, humanity, instinct, good vs bad. You can't help but wonder how you and your family would react to an apocalyptic world. The story lines are relatable, poignant and smart. No more pharmacies keeping mental illness in check or helping us stay healthy. No more Doctors pumping goo into broad's faces for promises of eternal youth. No more grocery stores, no more civilized living. When Rick says you are measured by what someone can take from you*, it resonated with me. What a scary way to live! I would certainly want to be in Rick's troop. I'd want to be of value by contributing. I'd want to keep hope in my heart, the will to live in my bones and the fighting spirit in my blood. I'd want that dream of Alexandria. I'm rooting for these characters like they are part of my family. TWD does more than entertain me. It makes me realize how fortunate we all are. Long lines, rude people, traffic, never ending bills to pay...couldn't be happier to have these "problems".
I am busting at the seams this week with excitement. TWD, season 7B starts SUNDAY. I can't wait to have my people back in my life! *Just one of MANY character lines that resonated with me!
