We've all done it, we've all had it done to us. It's natural......you're hearing a story and it triggers your own memories of a similar experience. Human beings can be horrible listeners. Can we all just take a breath and allow someone else their air time? I mean actually listen to THEM, let them tell their story without taking over the conversation? Sure, we've all lived. We all have experiences. It's only natural someone else's story might take you back to a time when it happened to you. JUST listen and if appropriate, share your experience when they are done. Please remember, however, your experience isn't always relevant or necessary. It's perfectly OK to allow someone else to speak without making it about you. Can we all be more aware of story hijacking? Let's not be so "me-centric" all the time. We can all do better. Let's see how much we can learn about another person if we aren't always thinking about what we want to say. Deal?
